These specialized weapons cannot be purchased by any starting character and must be obtained ingame.

Dwarven War Crossbows

These masterwork crossbows are rare and deadly. They were originally the brainchild of the leader of a dwarven Imperial Army regiment. The regiment consisted of arbalist scouts who acted as skirmishers and harassers. At both range and melee they can deal terrifying damage – crossbow bolts at range and vicious clubbing with the butt in melee. It is very rare and cannot be purchased from regular vendors.

They are all classed as exotic weapons. A character’s DEX modifier is added to the ranged damage as an accuracy bonus, provided the wielder has at least 10 STR – all variants have quite a kick to them as well as being bulkier than the other crossbow models. Ranged crit range is 19-20×2, melee crit range is 20×3.

If a character takes the feat ‘Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Dwarven War Crossbow)’ they are proficient with all types of dwarven war crossbows.

Imperial Deathblade

The deathblade is a type of masterwork sword that few soldiers – even in the Imperial Army – are trained in. It is a single edged, slightly curved blade, shorter than a longsword but longer than a shortsword. The edge is extremely sharp. It is very rare and cannot be purchased from regular vendors.

The deathblade is an exotic weapon that has differing statistics depending on how it is wielded. The curvature allows it to be drawn in a way that one can attack with it on the draw. If you attack as soon as you draw it, drawing the deathblade is a free action. If a character is not proficient with the deathblade, the crit range is reduced to 19-20×2 however it is wielded, and the damage is reduced to 1d6 for one handed and 1d8 for two handed. This is on top of the regular nonproficiency penalty.

One handed
1d8 damage, 18-20×2 crit

Two handed
1d10 damage, 18-20×3 crit
